Movie and TV actor Vijay G Badllani is a busy man. He can be seen in 3 TV serials being broadcasted on various channels. On Zee TV he is seen in ‘Jodha Akbar’ as Tansen, on Big Magic channel he is seen in serial ‘Bal Gopal Kare Dhamaal’ as a Kuns, and in Sony Sab he is seen in serial ‘Yam Hain Hum’ as a Naarad. All the three are costume dramas.
It begins to appear that Badllani is being now type casted for costume dramas. He plays Naarad Muni, Tansen and Kuns in these serials.

Co-Production Market 2015 officially announces call for submissions from filmmakers with compelling South Asian stories seeking co-production, financial and artistic support from attending co-producers, sales agents, distributors and financiers from the world over. We begin accepting entries from 19 June 2015, submissions close on 31 July.

20 remarkable South Asian stories will be selected this year. Projects get to pitch their film to the Indian and international film community that attends Film Bazaar with a focus on fiction features.

The pre-requisite of submission states that a film project must be an original story with a South Asian connect and must have a producer attached with 25% of the finance in place. In addition to the above the project must have scope for international co-production, distribution and sales.

Starting this year, the program has gained added leverage with the inclusion of an open forum on pitching. This activity has been introduced based on industry feedback with the intention that filmmakers should not be required to make multiple pitches during meetings.

The forum will be organised a day prior to the start of the Co-production Market and will allow selected participants to pitch their projects to noted industry professionals attending the market. This enables participants to effectively use their time during the one-on-one meetings for more in-depth discussions focused on project specific needs and negotiations.

The Best Indian Short Narrative Film award was shared by two films – the Marathi filmSundar directed by Rohan Kanawade and the Tamil film A Full Stop That Searches For Its End directed by Vivek Vishwanathan. The Riyad Wadia Award for Best Emerging Filmmaker went to Vaibhav Hatkar for his Marathi short film Ek Maaya Ashi Hi (A Love Such As This). The cash award of Rs 15,000 was sponsored by Wadia Movietone.

The Best Documentary award went to Do I Sound Gay? from the US directed by David Thorpe. The winner receives a cash prize of Rs 20,000 sponsored by Pond5.

The other awards went to Irish film Novena directed by Anna Rodgers (Best Documentary Short Film award that carries prize of stock footage worth $350 sponsored by Pond 5) and 09:55 – 11:05 Ingrid Ekman Bergsgatan 4b (Best International Narrative Short) from Sweden directed by Cristine Berglund and Sophie Vukovic.

Fashion designer and BJP leader Shaina NC was the chief guest of the festival and she also gave away the KASHISH Rainbow Warrior 2015 Award posthumously to lesbian rights activist late Betu Singh. The award was received by Betu Singh’s partner and co-worker Maya Shanker.

Producer Dr. Jagdish Waghela’s Movie,’The international Problem’ on AIDS

Mumbai.A feature film ‘The international Problem’ which focuses on Aids and guides the youth on sex education and the truth behind Section 377 has not being made tax free by the government even after more than two years of efforts. Made under Shri Education Films banner, the Writer-Producer- Director Dr. Jagdish Waghela has been running pillar to post at Revenue, Health and Health AIDS dept.  The move has received U certificate from the censor board. The makers have written a letter to the President urging the Health Department to review the movie.

“Today AIDS kills less people than the society’s perception of the AIDS patients. I have seen a patient who suffered more than 14 years of AIDS and is still alive. He is supported by his friends and family. I have been Let us see what happens after the President receives the letter. It is to be seen if the Health dept will review the movie or neglect it. I wonder why two govt departments don’t co operate with each other. I will request to Centre Govt. and the Maharashtra government to take appropriate action. This is a movie for social benefit, isn’t it?” says Dr. Jagdish Waghela.

Bollywood is set to experience a whiff of fresh air with producer duo Virendra K. Arora and Arjun N. Kapoor adding a Rajasthan-based thriller to their new and exciting film lineup for the year.

The film tentatively titled as ‘ROURAV’ will see Kay Kay Menon, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal in lead roles and will be co-produced by Mahesh Bhupathi (Big Daddy Productions). Richa and Ali were last seen together in Fukrey’s ensemble cast. All the three artistes are known for their originality and unusual appeal among the masses.

This August, the film’s cast and crew will set off for Rajasthan to capture the desert land from a whole new perspective. Indian film-makers have often showcased Rajasthan’s royal and palatial side. Determined to portray Rajasthan from a new lens and bring out its rare, atypical side on to the silver screen, the producers are currently fine-tuning the minute nuances of the film. “This thriller is about a never-seen-before interplay of human emotions. It treads Rajasthan’s uneven terrain and traces its pensive yet powerful side on a deep emotional level. We are pooling in industry’s best possible talent to create something that has never been explored by Indian Cinema,” says Arjun N Kapoor.

This is Virendra K. Arora and Arjun N Kapoor’s second film going floors and an iconic one with a cast as rare as the film’s subject. Mumbai, Noted filmmakers Anubhav Sinha and Chitra Palekar, national award winning filmmaker and actor Amir Bashir, actor Meghna Malik, columnist Malavika Sangghvi and festival director Sridhar Rangayan today announced the sixth edition of KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival – South Asia’s biggest and India’s only mainstream LGBT film festival. The festival – that will screen 180 films from 44 countries – will be held between May 27-31, 2015 at three venues in South Mumbai – the iconic Liberty Cinema and Alliance Française de Bombay at New Marine Lines and Max Mueller Bhavan at Kalaghoda.

Filmmaker Chitra Palekar said that since its debut in 2010, KASHISH had created a special place for itself. “KASHISH not only brings wonderfully different films to the film lovers of Mumbai, but also creates awareness in the mainstream society about the various concerns of the queer community,’’ she said.

Actor Meghna Malik, well known for her role as Ammaji in the television serial Na Aana Is Des Laado, too reflected on the growth of the festival. “In times when our government, our leaders and we as people at large are confused and struggling with the existence of LGBT community, KASHISH gives a platform to the community to express themselves through films. They have been doing it successfully past six years and it’s only growing leaps and bounds each year. It’s a brave and massive effort. My best wishes are with the team and as juror I am looking forward to some very exciting films.’’

Acclaimed filmmaker Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares has sponsored cash prizes for the three top competition categories at KASHISH – Rs 30,000 for the Best Narrative Feature Film, Rs 20,000 for the Best Indian Narrative Short film and Rs 20,000 for the Best Performance in a Lead Role. Wadia Movietone has instituted a cash award of Rs 15,000 for the Riyad Wadia Award for the Best Emerging Indian Filmmaker. The other competition categories are Best Documentary Feature, Best Documentary Short and Best International Narrative Short film.

The festival is organized by Solaris Pictures and co-organised by the Humsafar Trust.
